I am the Lieutenant in charge of the Indianapolis Police Department Mounted Patrol Unit.   I have been a police officer for 26 years.  I have been with the Mounted Patrol for approximately 20 years.   Prior to coming to Mounted, I worked the streets and Vice.

When I came to the Mounted Unit I did not have any "horse" experience.   After sixteen weeks of training, I could stay on and that is about it.   I learned the rest OJT.  I have attended schools and competitions in Lexington Kentucky, New Orleans LA, Philadelphia, PA amd Medina, OH (and probably other places, too). I have been in parades in Louisvile, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Ohio and all around the Indianapolis area.

Due to expenses and other constraints, these have been limited the past few years.

Because of injuries to my feet and legs, I do not ride as often as I would like.  However, I still enjoy helping Sgt. Park with training new officers and others, like the Red Hat and Purple Chap ladies.  As you may have realized by now, we don't know everything.  Every day, every horse and every horse person, offers us something new to try.

I have enjoyed our times together and appreciate my new red hat.  I especially like the fact that many of you are great cooks.  Sgt. Park was really disappointed he missed our lunch.
