As a child I was an avid reader and that included plenty of 'horse' books. Alas, I lived town so my horses were only part of my pretending to be Annie Oakley.
It wasn't until a few years ago when I had a therapist who loved horses as much (or more) than people that I had the opportunity to be around them very much. I started hanging out at the stables and taking lessons as often as possible. I love horses and horse people. Big beautiful dressage horses became an important part of my healing. I've never outgrown pretending, only now I pretend I am riding a graceful warmblood in a dressage show.
The reality is.....I bought a horse that I read about on a RHPC email. He is an older bay Morgan named Prince. There have been some things that haven't worked out quite as I had planned so I haven't ridden him yet. His pasture has been sown and is growing, I hope to get him home soon.
Prince and I may not be able to participate much this year....but until we can, I am loving him and the time I spend leading my grandchildren around on him.
