It is all my sister's (Mary Blackburn) fault! Boy that was fun to say! Actually she had horses when I was young and that is where I started my love affair with horses. We lived in Indianapolis so Mary boarded her horses but took all of her brothers and sisters to "ride" her horses. I use the term "ride" loosely for me because I knew nothing other than to sit up there and hang on. I still don't have an overabundance of knowledge but I am learning and having fun doing more than just sitting there.
These are such fantastic memories! Riding Mary's horses sparked my love. My best girlfriend and I would play in the yard and pretend that we were wild horses or we had plastic horses that we would have our Barbies ride (long before Barbies were possible). Then after Mary moved away, my girlfriend and I would save up money so that we could go to a riding stable. We would beg our dads until one of them would take us to the stables.
The horse love has never gone away. I have always dreamed of owning horses, so I help Mary with hers so that I can feel as if I am part owner. The next best thing to owning horses is to have a sister who does who lets you: claim them, come out and ride, love on the horses and help clean the barn (which I find relaxing). I hope to continue to ride for a long time to come with my best friend my sister Mary and our loveable horses.
