Fifty-five years ago a baby girl was born whose mother was terrified of horses. But this little girl grew up wanting a horse of her own.  Everyone felt so sorry for this little girl that they let her ride their ponies and horses, without her mother knowing.  Through determination alone, this little girl got to ride, and soon grew to love ponies and horses as much as anyone could, probably more because she couldn't have one of her own.  (If only her mother knew all the dumb, dangerous and fun things she did!)

Well, that little girl is me, and I finally got my first horse when I turned 40.  My father died and left me money to buy a horse and saddle. (Bless our Daddies!)   By then, two of my three kids had left home and I could afford to have a horse.  My husband and I moved back to Indiana so I could stay home, enjoy myself and have my horse.

Well, you all know what happens. Horses multiply. One became two, then three, four and five.  We did get rid of number five but we still have four lovelies roaming our three acre "ranch".  A bit tight, but we manage.  Of course, then we had to get a truck, then a trailer, then a camper etc.  Fortunately, my husband learned to ride and we now we are a trail riding and camping family.  I have fallen so many times (never my fault) that I have wanted to name our place "Fallen Achers" but hubby said no. (I thought it would be funny.)

I hoope to be riding for many more years.  I have a granddaugher who is two years old and so far, loves horses.  Hopefully, she will inherit my love for horses.  But that is in the future...
