I was an Army brat, but unlike most brats my dad was stationed in one place (Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas) for twelve years. In his off hours, my dad ran the Post stables. We showed western but the Fort Leavenworth Hunt Club was -- you guessed it -- English. I had my own horse but I also rode a lot of SPOILED ponies for other people.

In 1965, my dad retired and we moved to a farm in northeast Oklahoma, where both my parents are from. Although, I have ridden most of my life, I quit for about ten years, but returned to the joy of riding about ten years ago.

My husband, Tom, and I have been married for thirty-four years. We live on twenty acres that we bought when we were married. We have a son and a daughter both are married and together they have three of the most wonderful children in the world. (I'm not prejudice).

I currently have two quarter horses. Mo, is my go to guy, he is twenty-two. Dollar is twelve; he has some big shoes to fill. I also have Charlie, a very large thirteen-year-old Nubbin/Alpine goat that goes with us sometimes. For my birthday this year I bought a three-year-old spotted jack donkey. The donkey is 42 inches tall and he is a play toy for our grandkids. They ride him, crawl all over him, and when they catch him lying down, use him as a slide. I also have a golden retriever X chocolate lab named Cassandra Ophelia, (Cassie), who is one of the best camp dogs around. We have birthday parties for her and it is an event to be invited to.

I worked in the automobile supply industry, in a quality control lab for the last thirteen years. In late June we had another workforce reduction and I was laid off. I am really enjoying being home, being around my family more and now if the girls want to go ride in the middle of the week, I get to go! We trail ride and camp out when we can.

I am a member of another riding group called “Bad Girls Trail Riding Club. Among our activities, some of us also like to team pen and sort cows.
