Although I am a native Hoosier, I have lived just south west of Atlanta, Georgia on a 14-acre farm for most of the past 20 years. When I retired from Delta Air Lines after 34 years I returned to Indiana, and settled on a rather small tract south west of Indianapolis. It is wonderful to be back in Indiana but… it is mighty cold here for me now!
I have had a horse most of my life. When I was in high school, I started the White County Saddle Club with Treena, a horse buddy of mine. My first horse was Trixie, a small pinto, then Lady, a palomino quarter type mare. I have mainly owned and shown Arabians. I have shown at Class A shows and at many Indiana Saddle Horse shows.
Durin is my geriatric Arabian at 34 years young. I have had him since he was a yearling… too bad he was not gelded back then. I lost my other two Arabians due to age or health problems; Fantessaul, an Essaul son died at age 30. Krystal, a bay, Wind Fortune daughter lived to be 19.
After having ridden mostly gaited horses recently, my sister Karen and I purchased a spotted saddle horse named Lightning. Lightning is a wonderful trail horse but prefers to move slowly which is ok by me as I'm not in any hurry. We make an annual trip to the Buffalo River Trail ride at Waynesboro, Tennessee. We have made the Buffalo River ride for about 18 yrs now.
I also enjoy most crafty things. I cross-stitch, paint, crochet, knit, etc. plus I am always attempting to invent things.
