We are a chapter of the Red Hat Society composed solely of horsewomen.  We are called "Red Hats & Purple Chaps" aka Galloping Grannies.  Most members are women over 50, all horse lovers, who trail ride, camp, ride festivals, drill, fund raise for various children's hospitals, donate goods to multiple worthy causes, and /or ride in parades together dressed in  the tradition of The Red Hat Society. (50 & over wear red hats and purple chaps; under 50 wear pink hats & lavender chaps). We ride sidesaddle, Western, English, bareback, lead a horse, or drive a horse.  All breeds are welcome.  Riders and handlers have sufficient knowledge and skill to handle a horse under parade circumstances.  We have several clinics to "bombproof" our horses. We also have practice sessions at indoor  and outdoor arenas around Indiana.   There is a minimum of busy work meetings as most of the business is handled by email.

We are once again little girls on our favorite “ponies,” laughing, loving, and having adventures together as only women, especially mature women, can do.

Come join us, if not in body , then in spirit.  Browse our webpage and dream of the time when you, too, wanted a horse of your own -- when you were a little girl with a bright red hat and a purple boa.
